Blest is the man who shuns the place / Where sinners love to meet;

The man is ever blest / Who shuns the sinner's ways,

Happy the man whose cautious feet / Shun the broad way that sinners go,

That man hath perfect blessedness / Who walketh not astray

1 How blest is he who ne'er consents / by ill advice to walk;

Why did the Jews proclaim their rage? / The Romans why their swords employ?

Why rage the heathen? / and vain things why do the people mind?

1 With restless and ungovern'd rage / why do the heathen storm?

My God, how many are my fears! / How fast my foes increase!

O Lord, how many are my foes, / In this weak state of flesh and blood!

O Lord, how are my foes increas'd? / against me many rise.

1 How num'rous, Lord, of late are grown / the troublers of my peace!

O God of grace and righteousness, / Hear and attend when I complain;
