Great God, the heaven's wellorder'd frame / Declares the glories of thy name;

Ye holy souls, in God rejoice, / Your Maker's praise becomes your voice;

O Happy nation, where the Lord / Reveals the treasure of his word,

1 God is our refuge in distress, / a present help when dangers press;

Judges, who rule the world by laws, / Will ye despise the righteous cause,

Think, mighty God, on feeble man, / How few his hours, how short his span!

1 He that has God his guardian made, / shall under the Almighty shade

Let all the earth their voices raise / To sing the choicest psalm of praise,

That man is blest who stands in awe / Of God, and loves his sacred law:

Ye that delight to serve the Lord, / The honours of his Name record,

How pleas'd and blest was I / To hear the people cry,

I'll praise my Maker with my breath; / And when my voice is lost in death
